Magenta is a great alternative to red lipstick for the spring and summer months. A trendy makeup look for spring is radiant skin with a neutral tone eye and bold magenta lips.
There are many shades of magenta available, below I have rounded up a few in differing price ranges.

Polka Dot Nails.

Polka dot nail art is a cute look for Spring and Summer. There is no need to spend a bunch of money at a salon to get this look. It is easy enough to do it yourself at home. Even if you not artistically inclined polka dot nail art should be doable.

(Sorry I didn't get step by step photos. Next time I will. Honestly, it is so easy you don't really need them.)

Step 1: Apply a base coat.

Step 2: Paint your nails with two coats of the base color you are using. Let the polish dry between the first and second coat.( You can choose any color, I used a coral shade to give the nails a spring feel.)

Step 3: After the main color is totally dry, put a few drops of your accent nail color on a paper plate. (You can use several or just one color for the polka dots. It's all up to you.)

Step 4: Dip the end of a Bobby pin into one of the colors, then carefully touch the bobby pin to your nail. You can make as many dots in that color on one nail as you want. (Note, you can get bigger or smaller dots by varying the amount of polish you apply to the bobby pin.)

Step 5: Repeat step four on all nails.

Step 6: Repeat step four with the other colors you wish to use.

Step 7: Let the dots dry for about 5 minutes. ( This is to be sure the polish is totally dry, other wise the dots will smear when you apply a top coat.)

Step 8: Apply one to two coats of top coat.

You're now done. Enjoy your fun nails!

Play Ball!

I love baseball. I'm originally from North East Ohio, so naturally my team is the Cleveland Indians. I have fond memories of attending games a kid. Another thing I am a fan of is Dooney and Bourke handbags. So their newest line of MLB inspired bags is very tempting to me. Pictured below is the Indians print in the Triple Zip Crossbody style.  There is a print for every MLB team and several styles of bags as well.
Check them all out on their website dooney.com

The perfect bags for spring.

I have often been drawn to Micheal Kors handbags.  Not only are they fashionable, they are also practical for everyday use. The bags currently available on the market are no exception.  These bags, with their clean lines, bright colors and metal embellishments on some, are perfect for spring. They can also easily be carried into the summer months as well.

Available at Macys.com

More Trampled by Turtles.

They happened to be on Letterman last night. Seeing as how I just posted about them, I figured that I would add this video.

Trampled By Turtles.

Dear readers, I’m sure most of you would not peg me for a bluegrass music fan. Until recently, you all would have been right, although I’m not sure likening one bluegrass band classifies me as a diehard fan of that music genre. However, I do enjoy the music of Trampled by Turtles, especially their newest album, “Stars and Satellites. “ How could I not like a band that has a song entitled “Walt Whitman”?

Cloud Nothings

I first came across the band Cloud Nothings on Spotify over a month ago, and I have not been able to stop listening to their Album “Attack on Memory”.  Upon first listening to Cloud Nothings, their music reminded me of the pixies, albeit a much grittier version. Their punk/alt sound is not easily definable, but is ultra cool as if the fact they are from Cleveland.  Below I have posted my favorite Cloud Nothings song “Cut You”.

Rubber

I love this movie! Quentin Dupieux is brilliant, as he has made a film is so crazy that it is good.   It is more of a sarcastic comedy though than a horror film. Therefore, if you go to it expecting it to be a true B horror film or a film filled with lots of graphic bloody violence you will be disappointed. This film has many layers to its plot as there are almost two separate story lines unfolding at once. The film is visually pleasing and the camera used to film it gives it this serene almost otherworldly quality. It is one of the most innovative and unapologetically avant-garde films I have seen in a long time.  My friends and I are still talking about it days after seeing it. Also the sound track is amazing, and thanks to seeing this movie I have now discovered the music of Mr. Oizo (a.k.a  Quentin Dupieux). I recommend checking out the soundtrack from this movie and the album Lambs Anger.

OMG, Neon Trees.

I saw them last night in concert. I got there early but it being standing room only I still ended up slightly back. It was my lucky night though for some people were apparently only there to see the opening acts and left after that. I managed move my way up about four people back from the stage, close enough to see everything, but not too close so the acoustics were still good.  They were so amazing. The whole performance was super high energy. Tyler Glenn’s voice is as amazing in person, and I swear he can sing anything and make it sound good. They did a cover of INXS’s song Never Tear Us Apart, and I will admit I have always greatly disliked that song, but their cover was amazing.  Surprisingly it was one of the highlights of the night for me. Another thing that really sticks out in mind was the song Father Down, but that could just be that I love that song, and can really relate to the lyrics. Therefore, I was thrilled when they preformed it as their encore. The only thing I regret is the line was long so I did not stop to buy a t-shirt on the way out. I would not hesitate to see them again. It is ridiculous how much fun I had. Oh and sorry I do not have any photos, it was too dark in the venue for my crappy camera phone to work.
